History
The band started in 1977, but it wasn`t until 1981 that they released
their first album on Phoenix Records: the awesome The Nightcomers.Live
(Hot Curry and Wine) followed in 1983, with the final album, No Man`s
Land coming out in 1984 with the original vocalist Garry Lettice. The band
reformed in 1989, with guitarist/songwriter John Mortimer taking over
vocal duties, releasing two albums on their own label in 1989 and 1992
before signing to Neat Records in 1996.
The band`s albums have been proven to be very influential on today`s
metal scene with Metallica covering The Small Hours on their Garage Days
EP (`87), Garage Days Inc album (`98) and live on the Whiskey In The Jar
single (`99).Gamma Ray covered the track Heavy Metal Mania on three occasions:

the track Death Or Glory on their Warpath album (`97) and The Meat Puppets
covered The Small Hours on their Live In Montanna album (`99)
As a footnote, keen-eared listeners may have heard Metallica`s version
of Holocaust`s classic track The Small Hours on the American TV drama
