Metal Nation was started by ex Neat Records/Edgy Records boss & ‘original’ Tygers Of Pan Tang vocalist Jess Cox in 2004 for the release of British 80s rock acts, primarily from the NWOBHM.
Jess founded the Tygers with Robb, Rocky & Brian in 1978; they were signed to Neat Records in 1979 then to MCA in 1980.
Jess was on the Wild Cat album & later First Kill and Live At Wacken. He was also on various singles, compilations & toured with the band, including the mighty Reading Festival.
He went on to form Lionheart with Iron Maiden’s Dennis Stratton & then had a solo album Third Step released in 1984.
After completing a 3 year degree in Media, Jess bought & resurrected Neat Records in 1992, selling it to Sanctuary Records in 2001.
He also owned/ran Edgy Records until the start of this new label, Metal Nation.
